Akonáhle sa atrament vsaje do papiera, pohyb farbiva je zastavený už na samotnom povrchu. Tým je zaistená vyššia optická sýtosť farby a jednotné pokrytie každou kvapkou farbiva s minimálnym rozpitím - a to aj na rozhraniach rôznofarebných prechodov. Pri pohľade na výtlačok sú viditeľné živšie farby, sýtejšia čierna aj ostrejšie farby tenkých línií a písma. Uvedené vlastnosti hrajú dôležitú úlohu najmä pri veľkoformátovej tlači technickej dokumentácie (množstvo čiar s rôznou šírkou, šrafovania, drobné značenia a popisky) a grafiky (požiadavka na vernosť farieb, vysoký kontrast, nerozpíjanie prechodov)
